    Custom patchwork T-shirt combined from shirts I’ve collected throughout the past 9 years. Combining 6 new and thrifted shirts creates this one-of-a-kind art piece with deliberate piecing, composition, and contrasting pops of color through the graphic art and the washes of the vintage T-shirts themselves. Among some of the graphics featured: 2017 DAMN. Kendrick Lamar Merch, Gold's Gym Logo, Odd Future Logo, Golf Wang ‘Great Wang’ Logo, Racks Hogan ‘Death Wish’, and an NFA ‘Magazine’ graphic. Fit based on an old Uniqlo ‘U’ long-sleeve T-shirt. Finished with serged seams, elasticated cuffs, and a neckband.

  • OOO Billingslea [‘Gloss’ Polo Sullivan Slim Denim Jeans]. 08/2026.

    Fully coated and texturized glossy jeans with the shine and appearance of leather but with the feel of classic cotton denim. The base is a pair of Polo Sullivan Slim denim jeans in black purchased from my local Polo outlet a few months back; they're one of my favourite jeans, and I wanted to make a unique pair that looked like shiny leather but with the same stretch and flexibility. They're coated with a mixture of fabric medium gloss, fabric medium, and black acrylic paint at a 3:3:3 ratio, and applied using a paint roller. Some areas were spot-touched beforehand using gloss on the front and back to make certain creases pop in the light.

    Distressed knitwear project/experiment utilising a local thrift gift card I had for around 3 years after returning a flannel I didn't quite like for a black long sleeve and this green knitted sweater. When I saw the sweater, I knew I wanted to distress it, so I bought it to see how the structure of the sweater would change when cut up and washed. I cropped the hem, made it jagged, then cut holes all throughout the sweater, concentrating on the sleeves and upper shoulder portions for a unique knit that is breathable and contemporary.

  • OOO Billingslea [‘Slash’ Distressed Denim Jeans]. 07/2026.

    Completely disassembled, thrashed, and then repaired Japanese selvedge denim jeans with distressing and zigzag repairs throughout. The base denim is a pair of Warehouse & Co. jeans purchased from Grailed on November 1, 2021. I wore them heavily throughout the first couple of years of my undergrad, during which they developed a good amount of natural wear and a few holes. Eventually, I stopped wearing them as I grew away from indigo-colored jeans, and they ended up sitting in my closet for years. At some point, I had the idea to completely disassemble them and create something in the same vein as the AW05 Undercover 85 Reworked “Arts & Crafts” Distressed Blue Denim, but interpreted in my own way. I wanted to keep the history and wear of the original jeans while pushing the distressing and repairs much further, resulting in a completely reconstructed pair with zigzag stitching and distressed details throughout. I started by seam-ripping the inner and outer seams as well as the back pockets, then removed all previous repairs before heavy distressing. I used razors, scissors, and rotary cutters to cut the initial slits in the denim so that when distressed with a steel brush attachment on a drill, only the weft threads were intact. I spot-distressed everything from front to back. I then washed them to release any remaining fibers in the denim before repair. I backed the whole project using cut-up white guess denim and thicker white Bull denim fabric I had lying over from my previous denim project. The final result is a rigid pair of distressed & repaired jeans with weft threads loose throughout.

    1. OOO Billingslea [‘Trihybrid’ Cargo Pants]. 06/2026.

    An elaborate, 5-pocket pair of Hybrid cargos crafted from my personal pre-loved dress pants, sweatpants, and cargo pants. The top portion is a pair of Moores Pronto Uomo basic black dress pants; the lower section is a pair of grey Fruit of the Loom sweatpants; and the cargo section that wraps all around is a vintage US Army M-1951 trouser issued on November 20th, 1951. I fitted the sweatpants legs to the section of the dress pants I had cut off, then draped the cargo section around over a dress form, then stitched it down. A strap was outfitted to wrap from the centre back to the front and secured with heavy-duty Velcro to create a unique and unconventional pair of hybrid cargo pants.

    I transformed two Gildan XL hoodies into fitted mediums, shortening the body length while keeping the XL sleeve length and oversized hood for a cropped, exaggerated fit. Both black hoodies, purchased together in summer 2025, became a pullover and a zipped version. For the zipped hoodie, I installed a two-way no 10 YKK zipper and inserted a rectangular panel into the hood for a better neckline fit. When the hood opening was too wide, I sewed a dart from the back to the front, creating a distinct pointed detail. The process inspired me to make two more zip hoodies in black and white.

  • OOO Billingslea [‘Patchwork’ FullCount & Co Denim Jeans]. 04/2026.

    Meticulously repaired Fullcount & Co Japanese Selvedge denim jeans with full reinforced custom seat and pocket opening patches. I bought this pair of faded black Fullcount & Co jeans off Grailed in April of 2022 from a previous owner who had already repaired the front legs and decorated the back with patchwork and stitching.

    I first patched the holes in the back of the pants with a black fusible patch so the fabric couldn't fray any further. From there, I had the idea to create a giant seat patch and angled pocket-opening shields, and started drafting these pieces, ironing the pants flat, pinning muslin over them, and tracing it with black chalk. I then cut these pieces from leftover black denim, prepped them, and sewed them onto the pants. Once the main structural patches for reinforcement were completed, I moved on to the front knee areas, fixing the original core patches, then using scrap black denim and cotton fabric to create square and rectangular patches to attach all over the front of the jeans. Finished with a ‘Billingslea’ back tab and leather selvaged from my local fabric store's cut-offs section to create a one-of-a-kind work of wearable art that can be reworked for years to come.

    An upcycled pair of ‘Black & Blue’ contrast flared denim pants. This project was born of a desire to make a new pair of Black flared denim from leftover material from another pair I made back in August 2025.

    I used this deadstock Blue Cotton Denim fabric, gifted to me by my good friend László, for the blue base, and the black from my previous flared denim project. He bought this material for a group project in our course, FSN 101: Discovering Textiles from the Textile Museum of Canada, and found this beautiful blue denim with a nice yellow vintage tint, a dense twill weave, and a soft hand feel. After the course, he gifted me the material, and since then I had no use for it until this project arrose.

    At first, the whole top was going to be this blue denim, but I ran out of material when I started laying out my front, back, fly pieces and back pockets. From there, I sketched how I could use the black denim for the pocket facings, yoke, waistband and belt loop components to save this project. From there, I cut out my pieces and sewed them together to create this one-of-a-kind split-colour denim made from leftover material readily available to me.

  • OOO Billingslea [‘QR CODE’ Denim Jacket]. 04/2026.

    Personalized women's Joe Fresh white denim trucker jacket with a custom full-back Billingslea QR-Code embroidery, which I digitized myself. Inspired by QR code flyers I designed to promote billingslea.ca during my final undergraduate semester, I repurposed my mom's old jacket as the canvas. Using Embroidery Legacy software and a Marquee 15-Needle Ricoma Commercial Embroidery Machine, I completed the piece in about five hours, totalling 50,000–60,000 stitches. The result is a unique statement jacket made from family preloved garments, showcasing both technical skill and personal branding.
